Friday Favorites | Non-stop Summer

Friday, June 24, 2016

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

How are we only one week away from July? How is that even possible. Last I remembered, we went on vacation at the end of May, I blinked, and now here we are at the end of June.

Time flies when you're having fun.... or are just insanely busy.

1. Vacation Success

It was a hit and some! The weather worked in our favor, I scored some steals at the outlets, Ryan got to play his little heart out, and we were with our friends and family.

Our cottage was right beside an ice cream shop. #winning

Friday Favorites | Toddler Survival Guide for Road Trips

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

Today at 4:30pm, I get to put my out-of-office message on and kick back for over seven days and get some much needed R&R.  Sun, sand, beach, and outlet malls are calling my name.

In order to get to our cottage we rented at OBX, we do have to endure a 4.5hr car ride with our toddler that is deep into the "terrible twos."  Granted, a 4.5hr ride is much more doable than when we lived in TN, and had 15hr rides... but if you are a mom or dad and have a toddler, even a 10 minute drive to the grocery store can seem too long.

Thanks to Heather for the link-up!

It has been a hot minute since I have done a Friday Favorites post. Mostly because I have either had a sick kid or a sick kid that had surgery on my Fridays.  Catch the trend?  But, it is looking like we are out of the woods and my little boy is staying healthy.  Whoop whoop!

So, what are some of my recently favorite finds?

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

I can't believe we are just 1 week away from Christmas Day!  What I am even more blown away by.... I will have a two year old on Wednesday.

I am not prepared.  I find myself staring at Ryan more and more while we are getting closer to his birthday, just trying to hold on to as much of his "little-ness" and "baby-ness" as I can.  I am so amazed by him every single day and I love the fact that he is at the age where we can have conversations but it has just all flown by way too quick.

I think I am in partial denial.

In other news, sorry I have been a bit MIA lately.  This week has been extra busy with work and meetings that by the time I get home, I crash.  I am starting to think my New Years Resolution is going to be for me to hold myself more accountable to my blog.

Just a thought...

But, I am giving you a heads up, I will be blogging some next week but I will be with my family Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Now, on to my Friday Favorites of the week:

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

We have just two weeks left until Christmas and I am way behind.  I normally have everyone's Christmas presents knocked out in November, and right now, only Ryan's is taken care of.  So, I am now heading into this weekend starting mission Operation Christmas Present.

The mission, which I have chosen to accept, is to start AND finish finding gifts for everyone else in our families.

We have family visiting us for the holidays starting next weekend, so I am down to the wire.

Here's what I would really like to do...

But, I guess I am going to try a little harder...

In other news, I have stumbled upon some humorous images to share for my Friday Favorites:

Happy Friday!  I literally had a shock yesterday when I finally realized Christmas is next month, my child turns 2, and I haven't even started planning his birthday.

So, let's just say my mind has officially switched over to birthday planning mode!  While we haven't quite made friends in Wilmington, NC, yet and Ryan is just starting daycare, the guest list will be quite small, but that doesn't mean Ryan shouldn't have a party!  We have family coming in to celebrate his birthday and Christmas (since they are just 2 short days apart).  Operation "Ohhh-twooodles" has begun! (Can't you guess it will be a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse birthday?!)

Let's look back at some favorites from the week, shall we?

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

While not too much in my day-to-day has been super impressive (unless you count unpacking boxes), there have been a few highlights that have happened since the move took place last week.

So let's uncover my semi-impressive Friday Favorites of the week:

I worked out

That is a favorite because if you saw what I was eating during the move you would be begging me to work out.  My first run in over a week involved lots of moments where I wanted to just flat out faint.  It was tough.  All of the Chick-fil-A was crying out of me.

Ryan's dance skills

Because they just keep getting better and better...

Monkey has joined our family

We have a new family member, and his name is Monkey.  Monkey came to our family from the Wilmington Fair.  I, somehow, convinced Russell to waste five dollars and shoot some darts at balloons to try and win Ryan a stuffed animal.  Ryan chose a monkey that he immediately named "Monkey."  So original.

However, this monkey doesn't exactly look like one.  It's like a hybrid of a monkey face on a squirrel body, and it's face is uneven.  (What do you expect when you are at a fair.)  But to Ryan, he is our newly beloved family member.

Speaking of fair

We went to the fair last weekend and it was Ryan's first time at a fair and first time riding rides!  He was ecstatic to ride the Merry-go-round and Choo Choo train.

Holding on to Monkey for dear life.

I don't know what our weekend plans are yet.  If we can make it without rain (highly unlikely) and find a new desk for our office, I will call it a success.

XOXO,
Sherri

Friday Favorites | Saying Goodbye

Friday, October 23, 2015

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

Today is a bittersweet day.  It's my last day with my FTN Financial family before next week's move.  My marketing department that I have worked with have been my Memphis family and sisters to me.

When I came to Tennessee three years ago, we didn't know anymore.  I got pregnant shortly afterwards and Russell's new position immediately had him traveling.  It was hard to feel "settled" and it felt pretty lonely.

It wasn't until I started with FTN Financial, three months after we moved, that I really started cheering up.  I was working with four other talented women and we were the marketing group in charge of a 500+ person company.  We didn't outsource anything...we did everything.  Brochures, videos, advertisements, websites, etc., we were the gals.

These women have become my family and have taught me so much along the way.  Today will be a hard day for me... having to say goodbye.

I mean, this awesome group took me out to dinner at Babalu's in Memphis and gave me a send off that involved a bottle of Tequila and fireworks! (Oh, and if you are ever in Memphis, you must go to Bablu's.)

Wilmington, NC, you have some big shoes to fill!

My posts will go on a temporary hiatus next week.  The move beings early next week and won't have Internet until the following Monday, Nov. 2.  I can't wait to come back with news on the move and pictures of the house.  I also have some interviews lined up when I arrive, so fingers crossed a job offer is soon!

XOXO,
Sherri

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

We are one week away from our house being packed away and saying goodbye to Memphis.  And, we are one week away from not having to deal with any relocation paperwork.  That, is a cause for celebration!  While it has been great getting to use a relo company for moving, there is so much paperwork and crazy details that have to be done.  Doing that, a full time job, your husband traveling every week, and showing your house every day, has almost driven me mad.

But the end is near...

On another note, I have had some laughs this week:

Friday Favorites | 10.2.15

Friday, October 2, 2015

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

I had to double-check my calendar today, because I cannot believe it is October!  September was just the ultimate blur, and with our move just three weeks away, I am pretty sure October will be too.

The stress of working and planning has definitely caught up with my body because Wednesday I left work with a 102 degree fever and was bed-ridden yesterday.  I did manage to drag myself to the doctor yesterday to be told I had a nasty viral sinus infection.  I swore, based on the body aches I had the flu, but thankfully that wasn't the case.

A nice sinus cocktail shot to the butt and a z-pack later and today I am back to work and moving around with a tad more pep to my step.

Oh, and have you ever had a sinus cocktail shot???  When we were in Virginia, no doctor offered them, but in Memphis, that's the thing you get.  I guess since allergies are so bad here, they are offering cocktail shots to the butt for everyone.  And that little sucker works pure magic.  It's like the superman of all medicine that makes you feel 500 times better in just a few short hours.

In other news, three more weeks until we move....THREE!  I am extremely excited because I love our new home, but I am still on the job search.  So, if you live in Wilmington, NC, and you are hiring (or know someone who is) HIRE ME.  Puh puh please!  I have over eight years of marketing and communications experience and over four years of sales experience.  Oh, and I am the coolest person you will ever meet...maybe.

Here are some of my Friday Favorites from the week.

Sunday's Pizza Night

Mama cheated and didn't cook Sunday night, so we made it a veggie pizza night.  Ryan, being the creative little booger that he is, decided to turn his pizza crust into a phone and I captured the best pic of it.

Best Teacher Present Ever?

This is the most honest present I have ever seen. I am contemplating on giving this to Ryan's teachers on his last day of daycare before the move.  You can get any bottle of wine and just buy the personalized labels on Evermine (here).

#Truth

Best description of my daily struggle.  Spot on.

Fall Soups

Fall is probably my favorite season.  Not just because of college football and pumpkin spiced lattes, but also because I love soup!  I am totally ready for the nice large pot of chili!  Check out these 14 soup recipes (here), because I know I am!

And now, here's to hoping the day flies by!  My mom (GiGi) is coming into town for the week, and will arrive this afternoon.  She turns 50 on 10/6, so I am excited she will be here to celebrate her huge milestone, spend quality time with Ryan, and help watch him next weekend when Russell and I head to Notre Dame for a football game!  She will be here over 10 days and I haven't had that much time with her since our beach vacation in May!

XOXO,
Sherri

What are your weekend plans?

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

Life has officially slowed down... well at least for four more weeks until we move... and that is a very good thing.  In just a little over a two week time frame, we have flown to Wilmington twice, my grandmother passed away, and I had to manage a 600 person conference.

Now, the only thing left on my plate before the move is attend the Notre Dame vs. Navy game on Oct. 10!  Finally, a little R&R.  (Aside from working on my portfolio to use for my job search.)

I am definitely glad we are heading into the weekend and fingers crossed we get an offer on our house.  That bad boy needs to sell, sell, sell!

Here are some of my favorites from the week.

I had a brief panic attack this morning when I realized we are already two weeks in to September.  Time is running faster than Usain Bolt and there is no way I am going to catch up to that.

We head out tomorrow on our five day house hunting trip in Wilmington, NC, so hopefully I can come back to you and say we have a house!  (Dear baby Jesus, please let us find a house ... that we like ... that we can afford...)

Wrapping up this week, here are some favorites:

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

I have been looking forward to today since Monday, I'm not going to lie.  Work is insanely busy (which is a very good thing) but life outside of work has been the same.  I am hoping to relax and have some fun this weekend since Russell's mom is in town to visit.

In honor of Friday, here are my #fridayfavorites for the week!

It's Friday

That in itself is a favorite of my week.

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

I couldn't be more ready for the weekend than I am today.  After a tough week (you can read about it here), I am in need of my sweatpants, a couch, and relaxation.

Things have definitely gotten better for me.  I can move more freely around without pain.  I attempted a 30-min run last night and while the run felt good, afterwards I was wiped and my stomach was sore.  I didn't mean to push myself too much but I needed to gauge where I was at.  Now I know.  Just a few more days of rest and I should be back in business. (Fingers crossed.)

In gearing up for the weekend, here are some of my #fridayfavorites from the week:

Scripture

A friend of mine on Facebook posted this image of some scripture he read that day, and it was really exactly what I needed to read this week.

It's Friday!  It's time to grab my girls, head out in town, stay out til the early AM and partay!  Nah, who am I kidding!!!!  Had you fooled didn't I?

It's actually more like: it's time to kick back in my pajamas, binge watch Netflix tonight with a glass of wine, and make it to bed my 11 PM if I am feeling dangerous :)

Oh, how life changes when you are married and a mommy.  I am not going to lie, I LOVE my Friday nights now, compared to wayyyy back in my other life.

Here are some of my #fridayfavorites from this week:

This weight bench from Zulily

I know what I am getting Ryan when he turns three!!!  Isn't this thing awesome!  We have an adult version in our garage and I think it would be so cute for Ryan to follow his daddy and do his little toddler weight lifting version. Ryan sees the both of us working out on the regular and he definitely has picked up some of my small weights lately and pretended to do his own lifting.  Oh my little Schwartzenegger!  I would totally buy it now, but think I will wait maybe one more year.  But come on, HOW ADORABLE IS THIS!!??

The week has come and gone, and fortunately, not at a snail like pace.  I don't have anything planned for the weekend, but with it so hot out here in Memphis, TN, I don't mind that at all.

The only thing I have planned, is to fill our baby pool with water, open the patio umbrella, and let Ryan play.

PURE BARRE STUDIO SERIES DVDs
I love a good Pure Barre workout but going to a class is a weeee bit expensive. Two years ago, I cancelled all of my gym memberships and switched to working out at home.  Now I do HIIT training on the treadmill, Crossfit inspired tabata workouts, Turbo Kick DVDs (I used to be certified and taught at gyms, so I have a tonnnn from the past), and Pure Barre DVDs.  I love Pure Barre's Studio Series DVDs as they are a perfect way to bring the studio to your home and only pay for the price of a DVD.  I did one of the workouts for the first time in a few weeks earlier this week, and my bootay hurt oh so good for several days.  My knees also thanked me for such a great low-impact workout!

Oh, and they have prenatal DVDs and I used them throughout my pregnancy.  I was never once uncomfortable and it kept me tone throughout the nine months.
