I couldn't even walk up the stairs

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Have you ever had such a good/intense workout that you were so sore for days later?  And when I say sore, I mean you couldn't even lift your legs to walk up stairs?

That just happened to me.

Yesterday, I was at work, and it was day two of an insane workout I did.  While walking up a flight of stairs, I stopped midway and could not go any further.  My butt hurt, my hammies hurt, my love handles hurt, heck... everything hurt.  I had to turn around, go back down the stairs and find an elevator.  Weak sauce.

So what workout did I do?  I recently heard that Les Mills started an On Demand program. On Demand lets you work out to any of Les Mills' programs through your computer or tablet for a low monthly fee in the comfort of your on home or on the go.  For $12.99 a month, I can do BODYPUMP, GRIT, BODYCOMBAT, etc. without joining a gym at an astronomical price.

So, I did just that.  On Saturday night, I signed up for Les Mills On Demand and did their GRIT program.  Who knew a 30-min HIIT workout, at home, would leave me stranded on a flight of stairs at work just two days later?

I am a huge BODYPUMP fan, but since I turned my home into my gym once I got pregnant, I have not been able to do BODYPUMP and I have missed it so much.  I was like a kid in a candy store when I found out I could finally do it at home!

And, the fact that I will be living at the beach in just four weeks, has me excited stressing.  I need to be in bikini mode 365 days a year!

I ordered some more weights and a barbell on Amazon really cheap this week, so once they get delivered BODYPUMP is on like Donkey Kong!

On and if you are interested in trying the On Demand program, you can sign up for a FREE 10-day trial.  I think you should!

Has anyone else tried Les Mills On Demand? Thoughts?

Weekend Recap | Where did this energy come from?

Monday, September 28, 2015

Happy Monday!  I am linking up with Katie for my weekend recap!

We had a fantastic weekend in the Schwartz house.  Nothing too eventful happened!  That's exciting since the past several weeks have involved travel or work conferences.  The weather couldn't have been more perfect and that totally helped us out since we had to leave our house a lot for showings.

So what do you do with a toddler who has more energy than we know what to do with and you have to leave your house???  You go to the park!

Ryan has developed more energy than the energizer bunny and just when you think he is going to crash, he revs back up.  By the time his bedtime rolls around, I can barely keep my eyes open.  What I don't get, is how he still wants to wake up at the crack of dawn on the weekends, even after being worn out during the day.  It's like someone is playing a cruel joke.

Here's a look back at some of our awesome, tiring, park-filled, run to Target, and using pizza as a phone weekend looked like.

Park, day 1.  He only does the big slides!

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

Life has officially slowed down... well at least for four more weeks until we move... and that is a very good thing.  In just a little over a two week time frame, we have flown to Wilmington twice, my grandmother passed away, and I had to manage a 600 person conference.

Now, the only thing left on my plate before the move is attend the Notre Dame vs. Navy game on Oct. 10!  Finally, a little R&R.  (Aside from working on my portfolio to use for my job search.)

I am definitely glad we are heading into the weekend and fingers crossed we get an offer on our house.  That bad boy needs to sell, sell, sell!

Here are some of my favorites from the week.

I'm still alive!

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Yes, I am still alive!  I promise :)

Early last week, we flew to Wilmington, NC, to house hunt and when I got back I had to throw myself head-first into work.  From Sunday until yesterday, I was working our large conference with my company and was working day and night.

Now that it is over, life is slowing down and we are gearing up for a move!

So what have you missed?  Let's break it down:

1.  We found a house!
I honestly did not think it would happen.  It was exhausting and so frustrating.  Finally, on our very last house we visited, we had our "ah hah" moment and knew we had to have it.  Our offer was accepted literally 30 minutes before we had to be at the airport to fly back to Tennessee.  Talk about a close one.

2.  Ryan handled the house hunting so well!
I was a little worried about how Ryan would handle being out of his schedule and having to tour home, after home, after home.  But he loved it!  He loved it a little too much, because if he saw toys in a house, he assumed they were his.  By the end of it though, he had enough.

3.  Our house is for sale!
Wanna buy it?  No, seriously.  Let me know if you do...we need a buyer!

Our official close date on our new house is October 28, so I am almost exactly a month away from our move.  This is all happening wayyy too fast.  Now on to the job hunt!

XOXO,
Sherri

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

I had a brief panic attack this morning when I realized we are already two weeks in to September.  Time is running faster than Usain Bolt and there is no way I am going to catch up to that.

We head out tomorrow on our five day house hunting trip in Wilmington, NC, so hopefully I can come back to you and say we have a house!  (Dear baby Jesus, please let us find a house ... that we like ... that we can afford...)

Wrapping up this week, here are some favorites:

If I get one more email...

Thursday, September 10, 2015

I want to give a shout out to Amanda @ RunningwithSpoons for the link up.

Its #thinkingoutloud Thursday!

Thank you to all the well wishers on my announcement yesterday.  If you have no clue what I am talking about, you can read it here.

Speaking of the move, since it has become official, my email box has been jammed with emails from the relo company, realtor, mortgage lender, my husband, Zillow, etc.  Not to mention, all of my work emails.

The picture (above) is just emails within two days that I have had to reply to, that only concerns the move.  I am pretty sure if you wanted by my desk at any given moment, right now, this would be the look on my face:

There is light at the end of the tunnel though.  Since we are house hunting next week, the end of that trip should result in a contract on a house and a closing date set.  Then, the hurricane should die down soon.

On another note, this move has amplified my Zillow obsession.  We've already discussed my Zillow addiction up here, but when you actually get to move, the addiction feeds itself and it's an outright frenzy!

Want to know the additional addiction with the move?  My love of Pinterest.  I have pinned so many new paint colors, room designs, decor, etc.  I am looking forward to showing pics of the new house (once selected) and the inside once we move in.  I died laughing at the image below, the other night.  I am pretty sure Russell would agree it is an accurate statement.

Other things to do aside from all things house: clean up my resume, LinkedIn profile, and get to looking for a job!  When we moved from VA to TN, it took about three months to land a new job.  I thought that was pretty good at the time, since we moved during the holiday season, but this time I would like to secure something sooner.

Okay now back to my to-do list.

XOXO,
Sherri

We're Moving!

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

The title is right!

If you recall, a little over a week ago we took a trip to Wilmington, NC, for Russell to interview for a position within his company that would be a huge promotion if he received an offer.  After lots of prayers, Russell got the job offer on Friday and we accepted it yesterday.

I am beyond proud of Russell but I am terrified of looking for another job and having to start over.  The job market (in my field) is not very lucrative there compared to Memphis, so I am just crossing some fingers in hopes to land a great job sooner rather than later.

On another note, I am jumping for joy that the relo company will have movers packing and upacking for us.  Hallelujah!  That has to be the most dreaded part of a move (at least for me).

We are flying back to Wilmington on Saturday until Wednesday to house hunt as they want us to be settled in the new digs by the end of October.  Shew!

There are some perks to this move that I am very excited about (aside from extra dinero).  I am looking forward to being only four hours away from all of our family, being on the beach, and just being back on the East Coast.  While we have enjoyed Memphis (and our suburban town Collierville), our friends, and church family, this new chapter is very exciting.  Just the fact that Ryan will get to see his grandparents more often is the real winner.

My "Cozy" Fall Essentials

Thursday, September 3, 2015

I want to give a shout out to Amanda @ RunningwithSpoons for the link up.

Its #thinkingoutloud Thursday!

On the very first day of September, I was ready for the fall weather.  (Nah, let's be honest...I was really ready for it even in August.) But when the September 1st popped on on the calendar, I heard my UGG boots, leggings, college football, and pumpkin spiced lattes calling my name.

I am seriously chomping at the bit for the cooler weather and the mornings where I can just wrap up in a blanket on my couch and veg out.  Plus, my makeup is ready for the non-humid weather that way it can stay on my face a little longer than melting away by lunch time.

With the first day of fall just around the corner, it got me thinking about all of my "cozy" essentials I require during the season.  So let's see...

A Recap of Our Trip

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

While I shared the sad news from last week on yesterday's post (click here), I thought I would share some of the good from our trip today.

It was Ryan's first time on an airplane since he was six months old, so we were a bit worried on how our energetic 20mo would do.  But, he did fantastic and was such a trooper.

Also, the BEST money I have spent lately was at Target buying kids headphones.  Ryan loved watching his movies on the plane!

Once we arrived in Wilmington, our first stop was to the beach!  Ryan screamed "Osha!" as soon as he saw it.

Then, he quickly let us know he was ready to go to bed.  Haha.

A Shock to Our Family

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

It has been over a week since I posted, and I promise it was not because I forgot.  If you may remember, Russell and I left for a trip to Wilmington, NC, for him to interview for a possible promotion/relocation.  It was a wonderful trip but we are still waiting to hear if we get an offer.

On our last day of the trip, I got the call that my beautiful grandmother passed away unexpectedly.  We were, fortunately, only four hours away, so we extended our rental vehicle, changed our flights, and made the drive to be with my family to celebrate her life.

Now, today, I am back in Memphis, and still coming to terms with the shock and loss.

Life is just too short.

My grandmother went in to a surgery early last week for an intestinal obstruction, and while that was healing well, her heart could not handle it.  By the end of the week, God called her home.

I was very blessed to live most of my life right down the road from her and she was a spit fire.  She was full of energy and had quite a personality on her.  She loved deeply though.  Just days before she went into the hospital, we spoke on the phone and talked about how great she was feeling.  I am still in disbelief.

She loved her son and daughter, her grandchildren, and Ryan, her one and only great-grandchild.  Every single week she would send numerous packages of clothes to Ryan because she just loved to spoil him.  I came home last night, opened his closet and saw the clothes she had mailed him recently... and I cried right there.  One of the last things she said to me before all of this was "Sherri, I love my children and grandchildren, but I am not going to lie... I love Ryan even more.  It's just something about a great-grandchild."  I laughed and told her that was just a-okay.

While it will take some time to heal from the pain, I lean deeper in my faith knowing where she is in Heaven and she is with my grandfather watching down on her loved ones.

Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time as we move forward.  In over a year, I have lost both of my beautiful grandmothers, and this is just a reminder of how fast time goes.

Take the time to hug your loved ones.  Life is just too short not to.

Sherri
