Friday Favorites | Saying Goodbye

Friday, October 23, 2015

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

Today is a bittersweet day.  It's my last day with my FTN Financial family before next week's move.  My marketing department that I have worked with have been my Memphis family and sisters to me.

When I came to Tennessee three years ago, we didn't know anymore.  I got pregnant shortly afterwards and Russell's new position immediately had him traveling.  It was hard to feel "settled" and it felt pretty lonely.

It wasn't until I started with FTN Financial, three months after we moved, that I really started cheering up.  I was working with four other talented women and we were the marketing group in charge of a 500+ person company.  We didn't outsource anything...we did everything.  Brochures, videos, advertisements, websites, etc., we were the gals.

These women have become my family and have taught me so much along the way.  Today will be a hard day for me... having to say goodbye.

I mean, this awesome group took me out to dinner at Babalu's in Memphis and gave me a send off that involved a bottle of Tequila and fireworks! (Oh, and if you are ever in Memphis, you must go to Bablu's.)

Wilmington, NC, you have some big shoes to fill!

My posts will go on a temporary hiatus next week.  The move beings early next week and won't have Internet until the following Monday, Nov. 2.  I can't wait to come back with news on the move and pictures of the house.  I also have some interviews lined up when I arrive, so fingers crossed a job offer is soon!

XOXO,
Sherri

Woooosah

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

I am practicing my relaxation breathing today.  Woosah.

We are closing on our new house on next Wednesday and "Houston, we have a problem."  We found out last night that there was a leak with the dishwasher in the new house and it was major.  Now it requires the builder to replace the floors in the kitchen, remove the kitchen island and then replace it, and probably a bunch of other stuff that I can't even think about right now.

So what does that mean for our move?  We don't know when we will close and we will probably be in a hotel for a little while.

Like I said, woosah.

We are pushing for the builder to try and work around the clock to fix everything in time for our Wednesday close, but we won't know until sometime today or tomorrow if that's possible.

I keep thinking of the positives. 1) The house didn't burn down, 2) Hey, we get brand spankin new floors, and 3) I get to stay in a hotel with a baby and a dog.  Scratch #3, that is in no way a positive.

In the meantime, you can find me sitting on my couch tonight with a large glass bottle of wine in my hands.

XOXO,
Sherri

Weekend Recap | When the beat drops...

Monday, October 19, 2015

Happy Monday!  I am linking up with Katie for my weekend recap!

Have you ever found yourself shopping in a store, hear your jam, and start singing or semi dancing?  Ryan has!  Except, he took it to the next level, jumped on a rug, and rode it like a horsey.  This kid...

Ryan has hit the "dance party" phase.  Whenever he hears some good tunes, he always breaks out in a jig.  Good thing he has his mama's dance skills.  Although, I am slightly concerned he may end up like this kid when he is older:

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

We are one week away from our house being packed away and saying goodbye to Memphis.  And, we are one week away from not having to deal with any relocation paperwork.  That, is a cause for celebration!  While it has been great getting to use a relo company for moving, there is so much paperwork and crazy details that have to be done.  Doing that, a full time job, your husband traveling every week, and showing your house every day, has almost driven me mad.

But the end is near...

On another note, I have had some laughs this week:

Ryan's Favorites: Books, balls, bikes, oh my!

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

It has been a little while since I have caught everyone up on what some of Ryan's favorites are right now.  At 21 months old, a lot has changed as he is continuing to develop more and more into a little boy, and less as mama's baby.  (As I shed tears thinking about that.)

But I do have to admit, this is an absolutely fun stage.  He is all boy and then some.  He loves to play on the playground, throw dirt, eat dirt (we are still working on that), throw balls, and just be outside.  He is also at the stage where he likes certain shows and certain toys must be carried everywhere he goes.

Here is a list of his current favorites:

Weekend Recap | Here come the Irish!

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

I am coming at you a day late on my Weekend Recap, simply because I had yesterday off and I needed to veg out on my couch and catch up on my shows.  My mother was in town all last week and then Russell and I flew to South Bend, IN, to cheer on Notre Dame, so I needed a bit of "me" time.

Side note: We are two weeks away from moving!  Let the stressing, excitement, sadness, nerves, and frantic last minute prepping begin!

How did the game go?  Notre Dame won...duh!  Actually, it was a great game and we played Navy, a team with deep history and respect with Notre Dame.  Don't you just love how I said "we" like I was part of the team.... #hardcorefanproblems.

Russell's dad and mom came on the trip with us so it was truly a Schwartz filled event!

Here are some shots from this weekend:

I want to give a shout out to Amanda @ RunningwithSpoons for the link up.

Its #thinkingoutloud Thursday!

It's been a little while since I have been able to post a "Thinking Out Loud" post.  I have either been sick or traveling.  Heck, I am leaving on a flight early tomorrow to head to Notre Dame to catch a football game!  Life has been go, go, go lately and I have barely had time to catch my breath.

Today's TOL is a little deep but it has been weighing on me since I heard about the story.

Gigi's Cupcakes for our very own Gigi

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

Good news everyone... No one in my house is sick anymore!  (Knock on wood.)  Looks like everyone is on the mend and the health department did not show up to quarantine the Schwartz family.

Instead, we got to celebrate a milestone birthday last night!  My mom (Gigi) is in town this week and she turned 50 yesterday.  Whoop whoop!  This is the first birthday I have been able to celebrate with my mom in I don't know how long, so that was a real treat in itself.  Ryan enjoyed all the hoopla too and he was the cutest thing trying to say "happy birthday."

I had to work, but when I got home out came the presents, dinner, and cupcakes.  Speaking of cupcakes, we couldn't celebrate Gigi's birthday without Gigi's cupcakes.  Gigi's is a delicious bake shop that was even featured on the show Undercover Boss.  I loaded up on some cupcakes to surprise our very own Gigi.  Check out their website (http://www.gigiscupcakesusa.com/) and see if there is a shop near you because they have two awesome fall cupcakes out right now; Pumpkin Spice Latte and S'Mores.  (You know they had me at Pumpkin Spiced Latte.)

We ended the night with a bang (trying to save a bunny rabbit from my dog in our backyard) and spent the night with the TV off, just chatting away.  I talk to my mom every single day on the phone, but nothing beats a face-to-face conversation with your mother.

Every Gigi needs her own tiara for her birthday!

To die for cupcakes.  Almost too pretty to eat.  Key word = almost.

Happy Birthday Gigi!

XOXO,
Sherri

Weekend Recap | We're contagious!

Tuesday, October 6, 2015

I am a day late and a dollar short on this weekend recap post, but with good reason.  Every single member of my household has been sick and so has our visitor!  I am sure my family is drawing the attention of the health department because #wearecontagious!

If you recall, at the end of last week I was out of commission really sick.  Well, yesterday, everyone else woke up with a nasty viral bug.  I had to take the day off to care for my little man and my mom.  Gigi came into town this weekend for a whole week, and she wasn't even exempt from the bug.

When you wake up on a Monday morning and everyone else in the house has the bug, it's a quick reality check on just how superb your week will be.  Kidding... kind of...maybe not??

At least everyone woke up much better today so that we could celebrate Gigi's 50th birthday!!!  I am stoked that my mom is in town for a whole week and that I get to celebrate her birthday with her.  That hasn't happened since before college.  THAT long ago...

While we were semi healthy this weekend, we did manage to have a little fun.  So lets recap, shall we?

We took Ryan to the toy store to play with the train table.  He literally stayed right there for a good 20 minutes.  I think we found his birthday gift.  A train table is a must!

Goofball.

Ryan is also into this thing where he loves to grab bags, put them on his shoulder, and say "bye bye."  This time, it was his Halloween bucket.  He put his night night and his bear (that he named "AHH") in his bucket, jumped on his tractor, and told me he was going "bye bye."  Someone is already trying to leave the nest.

We also took Ryan (and Gigi) to his favorite spot... Bass Pro.  Gigi wanted to see the world's largest Bass Pro and Ryan wanted to reenact a scene from Blazing Saddles.  #howthewestwaswon

And no Bass Pro trip is complete without an elevator ride to the very top to view all of downtown Memphis.

And because Ryan has more energy in him than I do when I drink five cups of coffee, we decided a trip to the park was a perfect way to end the weekend.  He totally dominates the slide.

And so does my husband....  Speaking of... this is what it looks like when a 30 year old, 6'3'' grown man tries to go down the slide.  He may or may not have gotten stuck.

Now let's hope that we stay healthy the rest of the week so we can enjoy a huge milestone celebration for Gigi!  Oh, and so that Russell and I can enjoy our getaway trip to Notre Dame this weekend.

XOXO,
Sherri

Friday Favorites | 10.2.15

Friday, October 2, 2015

Thanks to Katie and Heather for the link-up!

I had to double-check my calendar today, because I cannot believe it is October!  September was just the ultimate blur, and with our move just three weeks away, I am pretty sure October will be too.

The stress of working and planning has definitely caught up with my body because Wednesday I left work with a 102 degree fever and was bed-ridden yesterday.  I did manage to drag myself to the doctor yesterday to be told I had a nasty viral sinus infection.  I swore, based on the body aches I had the flu, but thankfully that wasn't the case.

A nice sinus cocktail shot to the butt and a z-pack later and today I am back to work and moving around with a tad more pep to my step.

Oh, and have you ever had a sinus cocktail shot???  When we were in Virginia, no doctor offered them, but in Memphis, that's the thing you get.  I guess since allergies are so bad here, they are offering cocktail shots to the butt for everyone.  And that little sucker works pure magic.  It's like the superman of all medicine that makes you feel 500 times better in just a few short hours.

In other news, three more weeks until we move....THREE!  I am extremely excited because I love our new home, but I am still on the job search.  So, if you live in Wilmington, NC, and you are hiring (or know someone who is) HIRE ME.  Puh puh please!  I have over eight years of marketing and communications experience and over four years of sales experience.  Oh, and I am the coolest person you will ever meet...maybe.

Here are some of my Friday Favorites from the week.

Sunday's Pizza Night

Mama cheated and didn't cook Sunday night, so we made it a veggie pizza night.  Ryan, being the creative little booger that he is, decided to turn his pizza crust into a phone and I captured the best pic of it.

Best Teacher Present Ever?

This is the most honest present I have ever seen. I am contemplating on giving this to Ryan's teachers on his last day of daycare before the move.  You can get any bottle of wine and just buy the personalized labels on Evermine (here).

#Truth

Best description of my daily struggle.  Spot on.

Fall Soups

Fall is probably my favorite season.  Not just because of college football and pumpkin spiced lattes, but also because I love soup!  I am totally ready for the nice large pot of chili!  Check out these 14 soup recipes (here), because I know I am!

And now, here's to hoping the day flies by!  My mom (GiGi) is coming into town for the week, and will arrive this afternoon.  She turns 50 on 10/6, so I am excited she will be here to celebrate her huge milestone, spend quality time with Ryan, and help watch him next weekend when Russell and I head to Notre Dame for a football game!  She will be here over 10 days and I haven't had that much time with her since our beach vacation in May!

XOXO,
Sherri
