Its #thinkingoutloud Thursday!
It's been a little while since I have been able to post a "Thinking Out Loud" post. I have either been sick or traveling. Heck, I am leaving on a flight early tomorrow to head to Notre Dame to catch a football game! Life has been go, go, go lately and I have barely had time to catch my breath.
Today's TOL is a little deep but it has been weighing on me since I heard about the story.
Jaxon Buell is a beautiful 13-mo toddler who was born with a rare medical condition that caused him to be born with parts of his skull and brain missing. Doctors did not give him very long to live, and now, 13-mo later, this absolutely beautiful child is surrounded by strong and courageous parents, living a happy life and thriving. I am so touched by this story and this beautiful little boy. This family decided to choose life when they found out Jaxon's condition on an ultrasound. Knowing the hardships they would face, they decided to try and give Jaxon as much time with them as they could, love him, and give him a fighting chance to survive.
13-mo later, Jaxon is beating the odds and thriving. He is happy and is full of love. He interacts with people, toys, books, and music. Hearing these stories warms my heart. Hearing about these miracles and God answering prayers, is amazing.
Many people are calling the parents "selfish" for continuing with their pregnancy, and I absolutely find that ridiculous. Jaxon continues to defy all odds. I know that I would rather have ten minutes with my child, than a life without him. I would rather give him a chance to live than no chance at all.
Jaxon's dad has been quoted saying, "Everyone deserves a chance, and we are not on this earth to judge others or to go through life aimlessly and without purpose. We should all be so fortunate to make a difference, to make this world a better place than how we found it, and to seize the day. No matter who you are or what you believe in, it’s clear that Jaxon’s tiny footprints will have a lasting impression on this world, and that he has already touched and inspired more lives in one year than most of us ever will in our lifetime. For his life, I am better, I am blessed, I am grateful, and I am quite simply, one proud “Addy”. I love you, son. Well done, big guy. #JaxonStrong"
Look into those beautiful blue eyes Jaxon has, how can you not fall in love with him? He has inspired me and left a lasting impression on myself.
I really just wanted to share his story today because more people needed to hear about this miracle and about just how strong Jaxon is.
