I never intentionally meant to be away this long. But, life was getting the best of me. Our family had been going through months up great highs and then it all stopped at a screeching halt and we got pummeled with bad news.
- Towards the end of February, my Papa (grandpa) was diagnosed with cancer and the prognosis was not good.
- My mother-in-law's Lyme's disease symptoms were very bad and she had to live with us temporarily.
- On this past Friday morning, I got a call that my dad was rushed to the hospital and was having a heart attack.
As you can imagine, my brain has had to turn off and I needed to unplug for a bit. I am so glad that we now live in Wilmington, NC, and are only 3.5 hrs away from our family so that we can be there for every one of them. When I got the call about dad, I rushed to be by his side and prayed hard.
He had 100% blockage in one of his arteries and 50% blockage in two other arteries. After putting a stint in, we saw immediate results and the pain stopped.
A heart attack at 51 years old.
To say he was lucky is an understatement.
I was very glad that I got to be there this weekend during his recovery in the hospital and watch the humor ease back in to him.
It is so very important for everyone to understand just how short life is. To hold your loved ones close and make the most of your time on earth.
Now that we have gotten these last, crazy, and mind-exploding three weeks out of the way, I am hoping to not get any bad calls this week. You hear that family? Just kidding...
Side note, I have to give the biggest shout out to my mother, as I know she religiously reads my blog and thank her for being so willing to watch Ryan while I camped out at the hospital. Ryan enjoyed his time with GiGi and I think they both wore each other out.
I am constantly reminded just how lucky we are to live so close to our families now.
XOXO,
Sherri
